Divisibility Rule of 152

Professor Greenline Explaining Math Concepts

The divisibility rule is a way to find out whether a number is divisible by another number without using the division method. In real life, we can use the divisibility rule for quick math, dividing things evenly, and sorting things. In this topic, we will learn about the divisibility rule of 152.

What is the Divisibility Rule of 152?

The divisibility rule for 152 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 152 or not without using the division method. Check whether 2280 is divisible by 152 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Verify if the number is divisible by 8 and 19, because 152 = 8 × 19.

Step 2: Check divisibility by 8. For 2280, check the last three digits, 280, which is divisible by 8.

Step 3: Check divisibility by 19. Use the rule for 19: double the last digit and subtract it from the rest of the number. If the result is divisible by 19, then the number is. For 2280, double 0 is 0, subtract 0 from 228, resulting in 228, and since 228 is divisible by 19, 2280 is divisible by 19.

Step 4: Since 2280 is divisible by both 8 and 19, it is divisible by 152.divisibility rule of 152

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 152

Learning divisibility rules will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 152.

  • Know the factors: Memorize the factors of 152 (8 and 19) to quickly check the divisibility. A number divisible by both factors is divisible by 152.

  • Use the divisibility rules for factors: Familiarize yourself with the divisibility rules for 8 and 19, as these help in checking the divisibility by 152.

  • Repeat the process for large numbers: Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a small number that can be easily checked for divisibility by 8 and 19. Example: Check if 3648 is divisible by 152. First, check if it's divisible by 8. The last three digits, 648, are divisible by 8. For 19, double the last digit (8), subtract from the remaining number (364 - 16 = 348). 348 is divisible by 19. Thus, 3648 is divisible by 152.

  • Use the division method to verify: Students can use the division method as a way to verify and crosscheck their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.
