The cube root of 8 is the value βyβ such that the number βyβ is multiplied 3 thrice by itself., β is the symbol used to denote the cube root of a number. Cube roots are used in designing loudspeakers or in pharmacology for correct dosage of medicine as per body weight.
The cube root of 8 is 2. The cube root of 8 is expressed as β8 in radical form, where the “β" sign is called the “radical” sign. In exponential form, it is written as (8)β
We can find the cube root of 8 through mainly two methods:
i) Prime Factorization method.
ii) Subtraction method
Finding a cube root of 8 through the Prime Factorization method involves:
Step 1 — Find the prime factors of 8.
So 8 = 2×2×2
Step 2 — Group the factors of 8 in a group of 3.
Step 3 — So here 8 is a perfect cube, we have a pair of 3, so there is no need to expand it further.
From the above calculations we can say that cube root of 8 can be written as β8 = β2×2×2 = 8
Therefore, the cube root of 8 is 2.
The subtraction method involves subtracting successive odd numbers repeatedly.
The numbers starting from 8 should be subtracted until we get the result 0.
Step 1: First Start with subtracting the 1st odd number which is 8 : 8–1 = 7
Step 2: Second subtract the second next odd number which is 7 : 7–7 = 0
From the above calculations, the subtraction took place two times to reach zero.
So we can figure out that the cube root of 8 is 2.
