The divisibility rule is a way to find out whether a number is divisible by another number without using the division method. In real life, we can use the divisibility rule for quick math, dividing things evenly, and sorting things. In this topic, we will learn about the divisibility rule of 799.

What is the Divisibility Rule of 799?

The divisibility rule for 799 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 799 or not without using the division method. Check whether 2397 is divisible by 799 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Divide the number into blocks of three digits from the right. Here, 2397 becomes 2,397.

Step 2: Multiply the leftmost block by 2 and subtract it from the next block to the right. For 2397, multiply 2 by 2, and subtract it from 397: 397 - (2×2) = 393.

Step 3: If the result from Step 2 is a multiple of 799 or reduces to zero, the number is divisible by 799. In this case, 393 is not a multiple of 799, so 2397 is not divisible by 799.

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 799

Learning the divisibility rule will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 799.

Know the multiples of 799:

Memorize the multiples of 799 (799, 1598, 2397, etc.) to quickly check the divisibility. If the result from the subtraction is a multiple of 799, the number is divisible by 799.

Use the division method to verify:

Students can use the division method as a way to verify and crosscheck their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.

Repeat the process for large numbers:

Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a small number that is divisible by 799.
For example: Check if 4794 is divisible by 799 using the divisibility test.
Divide into blocks: 4794 becomes 4,794.
Multiply the left block by 2: 4 × 2 = 8.
Subtract from the next block: 794 - 8 = 786.
Since 786 is not a multiple of 799, repeat the process if needed.
