What is the Divisibility Rule of 371?

The divisibility rule for 371 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 371 or not without using the division method. Check whether 742 is divisible by 371 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Identify the number, here in 742, and compare it to 371.

Step 2: Divide the number by 371 to see if it results in a whole number. 742 ÷ 371 = 2.

Step 3: As 742 ÷ 371 equals 2, which is a whole number, 742 is divisible by 371. If the result from step 2 isn't a whole number, then the number isn't divisible by 371.divisibility rule of 371

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 371

Learn the divisibility rule to help master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 371.

  • Know the multiples of 371: Memorize the multiples of 371 (371, 742, 1113, 1484... etc.) to quickly check the divisibility. If the division results in a whole number, then the number is divisible by 371.

  • Use estimation: If the number is close to a multiple of 371, estimate to check divisibility without full division.

  • Repeat the process for large numbers: Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a manageable number to check if it is divisible by 371.

  • Use the division method to verify: Students can use the division method as a way to verify and crosscheck their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.
