Minecraft is one of the most popular video games, and its popularity has only grown over time.
The sandbox title includes a plethora of exciting content and a variety of game modes that can be played on all platforms.
The game allows the player to build massive bases as well as travel in the virtual world indefinitely, extract and gather raw materials, and create their own tools and a variety of useful items.
In the Minecraft world, there is a popular term that is used around quite frequently, Minecraft Enchantments.

What are Minecraft Enchantments
Minecraft allows users to craft a variety of useful items, however, every item has a certain amount of durability.
To overcome the durability issues, the game offers a range of enchantments that allows players to repair these items and also survive against mobs and other players.
Since the introduction of the enchanting table in the Nether Update, Minecraft enchantments have completely changed the gameplay and experience (Update 0.12.1).
These enchantments make a player’s journey through the Minecraft world a lot easier.
While certain enchantments help kill mobs easily, certain enchantments help in making the building process quicker, as mentioned above certain enchantments help increase the durability and so on.
Minecraft enchantments are created by adding a special feature or bonus assets to the tools or weapons, which is done through Enchanting.
To enchant any tool or weapon in Minecraft a player must possess the items mentioned below:
- Enchanting Table
- Bookshelf
- Anvil
- Grindstone
- Lapis Lazuli
- Enchanted Book.
When an item is enchanted, it acquires a distinct ‘glint’ animation that sets it apart from other items.
Aside from that, these Enchantments either enhance or imbue an item with new abilities.
One of the most valuable Minecraft enchantments is Mending. In this blog, I’ll talk about the Mending enchantment and what it does in Minecraft.
Minecraft Enchantment: Mending
Mending is one of the most powerful enchantments in Minecraft that essentially allows the players to restore the durability of certain items and make them stronger with the help of EXP (experience) orbs.
A Mending enchantment can be applied to a wide range of items, including tools, weapons, books, and more. Surprisingly, it can also be used on diamonds.
What does Mending Do in Minecraft?
Below are some of the major uses of Mending:
- If a player has an item with Mending in their main hand, offhand, or armor slots that has lower durability, the durability is repaired using experience orbs obtained from any source. The repair rate in the orb is two durabilities per point of experience.
- If more than one equipped item has the enchantment and needs to be repaired, one is chosen at random for each experience orb collected. There is no priority for repairing any item or location.
How to Get Mending Enchantments:
Mending is one of the best Enchantments, but it is hard to come by. You must be extremely fortunate to come across this enchantment.
However, if you still want to give it a shot, you can look for them in chests in temples, villages, dungeons, and a few other places where loot and raids are found.
You can also look for merchants who are willing to sell them for a fee. In some cases, players can also find this enchantment by fishing, though this is extremely rare.
Mending can also be obtained from an enchanting table as a side enchantment with a 1% chance from a max leveled enchantment (requires 30 XP levels).
- To use the mending enchantment, you must first obtain the item and place it in the first box of Anvil.
- Place the enchantment book in the second box and then tap the plus symbol.
The enchantment books are the items used for enchantments on Anvil.
Note: In a survival world, Mending and Infinity are mutually exclusive; only one can be used on a given item. Commands allow both enchantments to function normally.
Conclusion
Minecraft Enchantments make a player’s journey through the Minecraft world much easier than it would be otherwise.
Mending is a rare Minecraft enchantment that restores the durability of specific items. It is popular among Minecraft players because it is both powerful and rare.
You’d have to be extremely lucky to find mending enchantment in temple and dungeon chest loots.
Fishing is another option, but the chances of success are slim. The use of an enchantment table is another way to obtain mending, but the chances are the same here as well.
However, just because this enchantment is extremely rare does not mean you should abandon your search for it.
Mending enchantment, as rare as it is, can take your gameplay and the overall Minecraft experience to a whole new level, so keep trying.
