Minecraft is one of the top video games available on the internet for people who enjoy creating worlds or the ones who play just for the adrenaline rush.

In Minecraft, you can unleash your wildest imagination and explore your creativity by building a lot of things.

Minecraft players are constantly looking for more and more thrill and innovation out of their gaming experience. You can build so many castles of your own, or maybe your own houses, farms, and so much more.

All of those things mentioned above are built on the land. But what about the sea? Well, Champs, to be honest actually Minecraft’s oceans can be quite bare and need your creativity to touch them up a little bit.

To begin your sailing journey into the nautical building, a Minecraft pirate ship is one of the most impressive builds a player can create in Minecraft.

The ship is a great option to build since it will add more life to the oceans in the Minecraft universe and spice them up.

Building a Minecraft ship or particularly a pirate ship can be quite difficult and tricky. It’s quite challenging to recreate their rounded shapes using large blocks.

However, with the tips that we bring you in this blog, Minecraft players will be able to get their sea legs in the form of a fearsome ship that is ready to cut through the ocean in a matter of a few hours.

What is Minecraft Ship? Minecraft Ship Vs. Boat

Vehicle entities, like ships and boats, are used primarily for the fast transport of players and passenger mobs through the water or ocean.

Most people use both terms, ship, and boat when referring to the same thing. However, players need to be aware of the difference which is that the boat is smaller and it can fit into a ship.

While a boat can only support a maximum of 2 passengers, of course, a ship can carry many more than that.

If we look at the shape, Minecraft Boat looks more likely a raft. In contrast, Minecraft Ship design looks more intricate, demanding, and formidable.

Materials Required to Build A Pirate Ship in Minecraft

In order to build a functional ship in the Minecraft universe, you don’t require a ton of resources, just some basic ones. Some of those resources that you can use are:

  • Any types of Wood Logs
  • Any type of Wood Plank
  • Wool in any color
  • Cobblestone
  • Fences
  • Any type of stairs
  • And many more

The above-mentioned resource blocks are completely optional and suggestive. Since it’s your own Minecraft Pirate Ship, you can go as wild as you want to build them with any resources that you want. You can even experiment with building them with obsidian if you want to.

Simple Pirate Ship

First thing first, before you build an impressive Minecraft Pirate Ship, you need to find an optimal location for it. Once you find it, then it’s time to start building it. There are a few steps you should follow to build a Minecraft Pirate Ship:

  1. Planning The Design
  2. Building The Bow
  3. Building The Stern
  4. Building The Hull
  5. Adding Some Details

1. Planning The Design

Planning your design is the basic and foremost step that goes when we want to build something. Be it a ship or any other thing of course it is the first thing you need to do before assembling the materials.

This step is to ensure that you are able to visualize the general shape and size of your ship and also to make sure that you have a clear direction of what you’re making.

You don’t want to blindly build, like shooting in the dark, and end up with some odd randomly shaped structure, don’t you?

When building Minecraft Pirate Ship, you can divide the parts into 4 separate sections. The bow (front), stern (back), the remainder of the hull, and all other details like masts, flags, etc.

But before following the steps mentioned above, you need to determine the size of your ship since it will affect the width of your ship’s bottom. The bottom is the place where you should start with.

2. Building The Bow (Front)

Though it’s a bit tricky, it’s not impossible to build the bow. You can start from the middle (the lowest point of your pirate ship) and use it as a reference to build up the remainder of the bow.

The middle of your ship can be created by making a long row of blocks and then building all the way up to your desired height. But make sure that the height slowly starts increasing halfway up. The increment should only be about 1 block every 3 or 5 blocks.

For the remaining half of the height, you can pace up the increment of the height faster, about 1 block every 1 block until you have reached your preferred height. After that, you can start building both sides.

Start from 1 side first and slowly work on it until you reach half of the width that you want. To make it look relatively smooth, increase the width by about a block in every 2 blocks and then every 3 blocks.

Keep creating the intervals until you reach your desired width. After that, you can recreate the other side. Make sure that it’s mirroring the first side that you’ve worked on.

Remember, the key is to keep experimenting to make the bow (front) look good for you.

3. Building The Stern (Back)

Even though it’s fairly easy to create the stern, since you need to make the captain’s cabin, sometimes it can be quite challenging.

Challenging but still possible, aye?

First, you will need to create an anchor-like shape at the center edge at the deck level. And then place some blocks to connect the bottom of the ship to this anchor-like shape. Make sure to mark the space for your captain’s cabin.

If you feel like the overall shape is quite odd, then you can alter the shape a little bit by removing and adding some blocks until it looks decent and you’re satisfied with it. For the captain’s cabin, perhaps a window is needed as well.

Now you can add some layers to the second floor and try to improve the overall shape to make sure that it suits the kind of character you planned to give it. After all, it’s your ship and it should reflect your taste!

4. Building The Hull

If you already finished creating the bow and the stern, now comes the easier part, which is the hull. Why is it pretty easy? Well, it’s because now you only need to Stretch the blocks at the ends of the front and the back, depending on the desired length.

5. Adding Some Details

Once your main pirate ship is completely done and you can see its striking shape, now it’s time to add some details. As pirate ships, naturally, the details would include the sail, masts, and let’s not forget the pirate flag.

You can also add a fence and adorn it however you like, last but not least don’t forget the entrance as well, or otherwise, your player will be unable to go on board.

Conclusion

Minecraft is a great space to explore your creativity as it allows you to build structures to your imagination and also tests your sense of visualization and practicality.

Building a pirate ship in Minecraft also demands these skills from you and once you know the method to build one such ship you can easily use it in your game.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I build the Minecraft ship using the same block?

Yes, you can but it rarely looks good if you make it using the same block or same color wood.

I’m having difficulties recreating the other side of the front, what should I do?

Try to fly over your ship and mirror the image, or try to take a screenshot and mirror it with an image editor.

Are ship and boat referring to the same thing?

Even though most people use both terms to refer to the same thing, actually both of them are quite different literally. Be it in size, shape, and capacity.
