The numbers that have only two factors, which are 1 and themselves, are called prime numbers. For encryption, computer algorithms, and barcode generation, prime numbers are used. In this topic, we will be discussing whether 1489 is a prime number or not.

Step 1: Write numbers from 1 to 1000 in rows and columns.
Step 2: Leave 1 without coloring or crossing, as it is neither prime nor composite.
Step 3: Mark the smallest number greater than 1, and cross out all its multiples.
Step 4: Repeat this process for the next smallest unmarked number.
Through this process, we can verify that 1489 is a prime number because it is only divisible by 1 and itself.
Prime factorization is a process of breaking down a number into prime factors and then multiplying those factors to obtain the original number.
Step 1: Attempt to divide 1489 by the smallest prime numbers.
Step 2: As 1489 is not divisible by any numbers other than 1 and 1489 itself, it cannot be broken down further into other prime factors.
