The divisibility rule is a way to find out whether a number is divisible by another number without using the division method. In real life, we can use the divisibility rule for quick math, dividing things evenly, and sorting things. In this topic, we will learn about the divisibility rule of 294.

What is the Divisibility Rule of 294?

The divisibility rule for 294 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 294 or not without using the division method. Check whether 588 is divisible by 294 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Check if the number is divisible by 2, 3, and 7, as 294 is a product of these prime factors (2, 3, and 7).

- Divisibility by 2: A number is divisible by 2 if its last digit is even. Here, 588 ends with 8, which is even.

- Divisibility by 3: A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3. Sum of digits of 588 is 5+8+8=21, and 21 is divisible by 3.

- Divisibility by 7: Follow the rule for 7. Multiply the last digit by 2, i.e., 8×2=16. Subtract this from the remaining leading part, 58−16=42. Since 42 is a multiple of 7, 588 is divisible by 7.

Step 2: Since 588 satisfies the rules for divisibility by 2, 3, and 7, it is divisible by 294.
