This blog provides information in great detail about Minecraft Cats, how to breed them, their needs, types, and even sounds!

Minecraft Mobs:

Since Minecraft cats are a type of mob, let’s briefly acquaint ourselves about Minecraft mobs. Minecraft allows an almost real-life experience for players by allowing them to interact with different animals and entities. In-game, these are called ‘mobs,’ standing for ‘mobile entity.’ This interactive element in Minecraft mirrors the engaging activities for kids, where they get to explore and interact with various elements within the game environment. In Minecraft, players encounter a diverse range of mobs, each categorized into two types: passive mobs and hostile mobs.

How to Breed Cats in Minecraft?

In Minecraft, cats are tamable passive monsters. In villages, cats of various kinds are frequently seen. They may be found in witch huts as well, however, the cats that spawn there are invariably black. Cats can harm young turtles, chickens, and rabbits. In addition to being a pleasant company, cats are excellent pets in Minecraft since they can fend off dangerous enemies like creepers and phantoms.

Behavior of Minecraft Cats

A stray cat will attack neighboring young turtles and bunnies. Despite being resistant to the effects of falls, they nonetheless use pathfinding to stay on solid ground. If players move too rapidly or assault the cat, stray cats will race away from them. To keep the cat from straying too far from you, you may also attach a lead to a leash.

A player can tell a trained cat to sit by right-clicking on it. This will block the cat from teleporting and keep it stationary. Like wild cats, domestic cats enjoy perching on anything, including the foot of beds, furnaces in motion, and chests.

The cat can offer the player a present when they wake up from sleep. In addition to raw chicken and phantom membranes, they can bring you rabbit’s feet and skin, twine, rotting meat, and feathers. The cat won’t bring the player a present when they wake up in the morning if it is seated.

Breeding Cats in Minecraft:

Cats, like every other animal, can be bred. There are two ways of acquiring a cat in Minecraft. They can be spawned using a command or spawn egg, this can only be done in creative or if cheats are enabled. However, you can multiply your pet cats by breeding them for survival.

How to Breed Cats in Minecraft

Step 1: Finding Cats:

Cats of different breeds can be found in villages and if you specifically want a black cat, you can get one at a witch hut. Untamed cats are spawned in villages as long as they are not raided or abandoned. One black cat is spawned with a witch in its hut, this cat never despawns. The chance of a black cat spawning in villages is about 50% during a full moon.

Step 2: Taming your Cats:

After finding your cats, you’re going to have to tame them. Untamed/stray cats will stay away from a player and maintain a 16-block distance. A player within 7 blocks of a stray cat will cause it to sprint away. To tame a cat, shift towards it slowly holding a raw cod or salmon, upon reaching 10 blocks of the cat wait for the cat to approach you by itself. When the cat is within reach feed it the raw fish (cod or salmon) till little hearts appear on top of it. The cat is now tamed. Tamed cats have a red collar that can be changed using dyes. You can also make your cat sit!

Step 3: Breeding your Cats:

Minecraft allows the player to breed animals, cats being one of them. For breeding you’ll need two cats, they both should be tamed, and should be close to each other. Feed both the cats raw cod or salmon. They will enter ‘love’ mode. Breeding creates a kitten. The kitten will have a pattern of either one of its parents or a combination of both. The parent cats cannot breed again for the next 5 minutes. For breeding it must be kept in mind that both the cats must be standing, two sitting cats cannot breed. However, one sitting and one standing cat can breed. In this case, the kitten will be owned by the owner of the standing cat.

Step 4: Nurturing your Kittens:

The kittens can grow on their own, but feeding them raw fish increases their growth speed by about 10%. Kittens can also take fall damage, although they are clever animals, it is wise to keep your cats away from ravines or very high cliffs. You should regularly feed your pet cat as its tail does not determine its health status as it is in tamed wolves. Hence, there is no exact way of knowing whether your cat is up to full health or not. Feed your cat raw cod or salmon (any fish will do, but cod and salmon are preferred!) to increase its health by two. Make sure to keep your cat happy, and make it feel loved!
