How to get Honeycomb in Minecraft

By Ayesha M

In Minecraft, one of the most underrated items is a honeycomb. It is simple to obtain a honeycomb in Minecraft, and we can find it in a bee nest or hive. The player has to wait for it to reach honey level 5 and use a pair of shears to harvest these honeycombs. But taking honeycomb from a hive or nest is very difficult because it angers the bees enough to attack you.

Harvesting honeycomb from a bee nest or hive will automatically aggravate the bees inside and turn them against the player in Minecraft. Bees inflict poison damage on the player with stinging damage, if a swarm is ganging up against a player, there is a possibility that the player could die from the attack.

For this solution, you can read the below topic, it helps you to get a honeycomb safely from bees.

How do players get Honeycombs in Minecraft?

Follow the following steps to get the honeycombs safely.

  1. First, we have to craft a set of shears, if the player doesn’t have them in the inventory. It is very easy to make, just need to use 2 iron ingots and follow the following steps:
    • Open the crafting table of size 3 x 3.
    • Place 1 iron ingot in the center of the grid. And place another iron ingot in the first box in row 3.

  1. The player has to find a bee nest or beehive. Most of the bee nests grow in the wild and beehives are crafted by Minecraft players.
    • The players can find the bee nests hanging from oak and birch trees in Meadow biomes that are just below the leaves of the tree.
    • The players can find the nests in Plains, Sunflower Plains, and Flower Forest biomes in very rare cases.

Note: Each time a bee leaves the nest or hive after spending the night, the honey level will be increased by 1. The player cannot harvest honeycomb until the nest or hive reaches honey level 5.

  1. To harvest the honeycomb in Minecraft without angering the bees, we need to place a lit campfire directly beneath the hive or nest that is honey-filled before harvesting it within 5 blocks. The smoke will calm the bees, so they will not attack the player. If the player doesn’t have a campfire, try to craft a campfire with the ingredients like 3 sticks, 1 charcoal or coal, and 3 wood or logs. Follow the following steps.
    • Open the crafting table of 3 x 3 size.
    • Place 1 stick in the second box, first row.
    • Place the given items in order: one stick, one piece of charcoal or coal, and one stick in the second row.
    • Place a piece of wood or a log in each of the three boxes in the third row.
    • Try to clear 1 block just above the nest/hive to allow the smoke to pass through.
    • Try to Dig 1 block directly below the nest/hive.
    • Now place the campfire into the hole that we have dug, and the campfire will light automatically.

  1. Bees are a helpful part of the Minecraft ecosystem. We have to protect the bees. We have to gather honeycomb in a safe area and make sure that we get honeycomb without damaging the bees.
    • In Java Edition, we can place a carpet over the campfire so that the smoke will flow through the carpet and the bees will be safe.
    • In Bedrock Edition which is in Windows 10, consoles, and so on, don’t make use of a carpet. Here, try to put the campfire in a hole below the hive and surround the hole with a fence and extinguish the campfire after harvesting the honeycomb by placing a water block on the campfire.

  1. When the nest/ hive reaches honey level 5 then overflowing with honey indicates that the honeycomb is ready to harvest, and then the smoke will docile the bees.

Now select the shears from the hot bar and use a pair of shears on the block to harvest the honeycomb. Shears are the only tool that can get honeycomb, and the players can use a bottle to get honey.

In a different edition of Minecraft, we can select as follows:

  • Click and hold the button in Java, Windows 10, and Education Edition.
  • In Pocket Edition: Tap and hold the nest.
  • In Xbox One: Press and hold RT.
  • In PS4: Press and hold R2.
  • In Nintendo Switch: Press and hold ZR.
