Mathematics is a subject that can sometimes leave children scratching their heads. Although many consider it a fairly easy subject based on the fact that it requires a lot of logical thinking, understanding of concepts and principles, and practice.

But because maths has a lot of concepts and fields within the subject, understandably, it can be a tough nut to crack at times.

Algebra, one of the major branches in mathematics aid a lot in giving kids a bit of challenge when they study mathematics.

Online Classes

Though Algebra is vast, elementary algebra deals with the manipulation of variables as if they were numbers, and is thus required in all mathematical applications.

In this blog, we will look at the Algebra formula for kids and some algebraic formulas that are important for kids and teens of all ages

What is Algebra?

Algebra is used in Maths when we don’t know the exact number(s) in a calculation. In algebra, we use letters to represent unknown values or values that can change.

Algebra To Represent Mathematics Formula

For Example, the formula for the area of a rectangle is an x b (a is represented for base and b represents height). If the height was 6cm and the base was 4cm, then the area would be 24cm2.

As the values for the height and base can be changed, we can use algebra to represent the formula.

Algebra Formula For Kids

To understand algebra we will divide and organize the basic Algebra formula into 4 categories.

  1. Addition

When adding algebraic expressions, you must first collect the like terms and then add them. The total of the coefficients of the same terms would be the sum of all the same terms.

For example, if terms x and x are the same, we can add them together, x equals 1x, and the result is 2x.

For instance, if we have 2x + 4x, we can add 2 and 4 and use the same term as a final term, x. As a result, the answer is 6x.

  1. Subtraction

Subtraction is the same as the addition in that you must find the same terms and then count them from the first appearance of the term to the last.

For example, 4x – x means 4 – 1 = 3, so we add the term to the final number to get 3x.

Another example is 7x – 2x, which means 7x – 2x = 5 and then add x to get 5x.

  1. Multiplication

Multiplication differs from the previous two basic mathematical formulas. Here are some Multiplication Algebra Formula rules:

  • number x term = number term
  • term(1) x term(2) = term(1) term(2)

term x term = term2

  1. Division

The final algebra formula is division; the concept is the same as multiplication, but you must add/when there are different terms between the numbers.

For example, if a: b contains two distinct terms, we can simply insert/between them.

Another example: if the term includes a number, we must first calculate the number, then add the term, and don’t forget to include/between.

Conclusion

So that’s all there is to algebra formulas for kids and algebra formulas & charts. Because we will be using a lot of dynamic data, you can learn more about algebra in coding as well.

Algebra is one of the major branches of mathematics and it also serves as the foundation of various concepts and topics in other disciplines.
