As a survival game, Minecraft is all about crafting and building. Players in this game must continue gathering resources and items in order to survive. The biggest challenge for Minecraft players is running out of basic resources, such as wood, food, mob drops, etc. Restocking them manually, of course, will be time-consuming.
Therefore, farms are very important in Minecraft. Whether it’s a simple crop farm, an animal farm, a mob farm, or anything in between, those farms will simplify the resource-gathering process and make it easier for players.
One of the important resources in this game is food. If you have a useful structure that is able to provide some space for crop farming and keeps your livestock from running away, that would be a lifesaver. The Minecraft Barn is the structure dedicated to them both.

What Is Minecraft Barn?
The barn is a useful building in Minecraft that has two functions: it can house animals, and it can be used to farm crops.
This structure is able to keep your inventory well-organized and protect your animals from running away. A Minecraft barn can also be used to grow crops and raise animals like cows.

How to Craft a Barn in Minecraft
When you have the materials needed to craft a barn, you can follow the general steps below:
- Make corners with spruce logs and extend the height to six blocks.
- Next step is creating the walls using stripped birch wood. Make sure to raise these walls’ height to be exactly the same as the corners.
- After the walls, of course, you need the door. You can use dark oak wood planks equipped with trapdoors to create it. The door’s height is 2 blocks lower than the walls.
- Raise all 4 corners’ height (the spruce logs) by one block. Use the dark oak wood plank to join the front spruce log with the back spruce log (but don’t connect the left corner to the right corner).
- To connect the left corner with the right corner, you can use spruce trapdoors instead.
- To create a second floor, you need to raise the left and right walls’ height by 2 blocks. You can use birch wood slabs or dark wood slabs for the floor. Make sure to leave a 2 x 6 gap in the roof.
- Connect the first and second floors with a ladder. You can place the ladder anywhere you want.
- Use stripped birch wood to create the roof on the front and back sides, and connect them using dark oak wood plank.
- To cover the gap between blocks on the roof, you can use dark oak wood stairs.
- Use dark oak wood slabs to cover the top of the roof.
- To create a window, make a 3 x 2 gap at the front and back of the barn.
- Next we are going to create the floor on the first floor. You can combine gravel and coarse dirt to create your own design.
- Make a dark oak wooden slab line at the top of the door to place the lantern, and voila! Your basic structure of the barn is completed.
- The final step would be decorating your barn. There’s no limitation in decorating your barn. You can use grass for the corner of your barn, or maybe add a chest, beehive, crafting table, trapdoors, hay bale, etc to fill the barn from the inside.
- For the second floor, you can also use fencing trap doors, spruce logs, and lanterns for illumination.
Conclusion
Building a barn in Minecraft is very helpful because it makes it easier to get resources. You can grow crops as well as breed animals without having to worry that they will run away.
With its dual abilities, Minecraft Barn can keep your food inventory well organized as well. Building a Minecraft barn is also relatively easy and worth it.
