Divisibility Rule of 427

The divisibility rule for 427 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 427 without using the division method. Check whether 854 is divisible by 427 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Multiply the last digit of the number by 2, here in 854, 4 is the last digit. Multiply it by 2. 4 × 2 = 8.  

Step 2: Subtract the result from Step 1 from the remaining values, but do not include the last digit. i.e., 85 - 8 = 77.

 
Step 3: If the result from step 2 isn't a multiple of 427, then the number isn't divisible by 427. In this example, 77 is not a multiple of 427, so 854 is not divisible by 427.

For example: Check if 2552 is divisible by 427 using the divisibility test.  
Multiply the last digit by 2, i.e., 2 × 2 = 4.  
Subtract the remaining digits excluding the last digit by 4, 255 - 4 = 251.  
Still, 251 is not a multiple of 427, so 2552 is not divisible by 427.
