What is the Divisibility Rule of 425?

The divisibility rule for 425 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 425 or not without using the division method. Check whether 425000 is divisible by 425 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: First, check if the last three digits of the number form a number that is divisible by 25. Here, in 425000, the last three digits are 000, which is divisible by 25.

Step 2: Next, check if the number formed by all the digits except the last three is divisible by 17. In this case, the number is 425, which is divisible by 17 (since 17×25=425).

Step 3: If both conditions are satisfied, the number is divisible by 425.

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 425

Learning divisibility rules will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 425.

Know the multiples of 425:

Memorize the multiples of 425 (425, 850, 1275, 1700, etc.) to quickly check divisibility. If both conditions of the rule are met, the number is divisible by 425.

Use the negative numbers:

If the result we get while checking divisibility conditions is negative, consider it as positive for checking the divisibility of a number.

Repeat the process for large numbers:

For large numbers, break them down using the rule repeatedly until you confirm divisibility by 425.

Use the division method to verify:

Students can use the division method as a way to verify and cross-check their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.
