What is the Divisibility Rule of 38?


The divisibility rule for 38 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 38 or not without using the division method. Check whether 1520 is divisible by 38 with the divisibility rule.

 

Step 1: Check if the number is divisible by both 2 and 19, as 38 is the product of these two numbers.

 

Step 2: For divisibility by 2, the number should end in an even digit. In 1520, the last digit is 0, which is even, so it is divisible by 2.

 

Step 3: To check divisibility by 19, you can use the rule: double the last digit and subtract it from the rest of the number. Repeat this process until you get a small number. In 1520, the last digit is 0. Double it to get 0, and subtract from 152, resulting in 152. Repeat: double the last digit (2) to get 4, then 15 - 4 = 11.
