Using the Counting Divisors Method

In this counting divisor method, we need to count the divisors of a number. The number, which holds more than two factors, is said to be a composite number.

Let’s check the number 1000.

The divisors of 1000 = 1,2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 25, 40, 50, 100, 125, 200, 250, 500, and 1000.

Using the Divisibility Test Method

For the divisibility rule, the number is greater than 1 and can be divisible by 1 and the number itself. In other words, it can be said that if a prime number is divisible by any number, the quotient is not a whole number. Here, 1000 is divisible by 1,2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20, 25, 40, 50, 100, 125, 200, 250, 500, and 1000. Therefore, it is a composite number.

Using the Prime Factorization Method

In this method, we need to find the prime factorization of 1000

The prime factorization is said to be the numbers as the product of their prime factors.

Prime factorization of 1000 = 23 × 53

Therefore, 1000 is factored into smaller prime factors, then the number 1000 is a composite number.
