  • If there is a total count of only 2 divisors, then the number is prime. 
     
  • If the count is more than 2, then the number is composite.

 

Let’s check whether 293 is prime or composite.

 

Step 1: All numbers are divisible by 1 and themselves.

 

Step 2: Check divisibility by numbers greater than 1 up to the square root of 293 (approximately 17.1).

 

Step 3: 293 is not divisible by any numbers from 2 to 17 without leaving a remainder.

Step 5: Repeat this process until you reach the end of the list. Through this process, we will have a list of prime numbers.
