What is the Divisibility Rule of 450?

The divisibility rule for 450 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 450 or not without using the division method. Check whether 5400 is divisible by 450 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Check if the number is divisible by 2, 3, and 5.

- Divisibility by 2: The last digit should be even. Here, 0 is even, so 5400 is divisible by 2.

- Divisibility by 3: The sum of the digits should be divisible by 3. Here, 5+4+0+0=9, and 9 is divisible by 3.

- Divisibility by 5: The last digit should be 0 or 5. Here, 0 is a valid last digit, so 5400 is divisible by 5.

Step 2: As 5400 satisfies all the conditions for divisibility by 2, 3, and 5, it is divisible by 450.divisibility rule of 450

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 450

Learning the divisibility rule will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 450.

  • Know the multiples of 450:  Memorize the multiples of 450 (450, 900, 1350, 1800…etc.) to quickly check divisibility. If the number meets the divisibility rules for 2, 3, and 5, it is divisible by 450.

  • Use the negative numbers:  If the result we get after checking divisibility is negative, consider it as positive for checking divisibility.

  • Repeat the process for large numbers:  Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a small number that is divisible by 450.

For example, check if 18,000 is divisible by 450 using the divisibility test.

    - Divisibility by 2: The last digit is 0, so it is divisible by 2.- Divisibility by 3: The sum of the digits is 1+8+0+0+0=9, which is divisible by 3.

    - Divisibility by 5: The last digit is 0, so it is divisible by 5.

Since all conditions are satisfied, 18,000 is divisible by 450.

  • Use the division method to verify:  Students can use the division method as a way to verify and cross-check their results. This will help them verify and also learn.
