In math, every real number is divided into prime and composite numbers. In daily life, prime numbers play an important role in cryptographic algorithms, especially in public-key cryptography. Also, it is used in general to secure digital communication.
37 is a prime number and on the prime factorization of 37, we get only 1 and 37 as the factor of 37. And, also it contains exactly two factors, which is 1 and 37, where it is known as the prime number.
If a number must hold only 2 divisors when divided.
The factors should be number 1 and itself only.
Listed below are some methods to find out whether a particular number is prime or composite?
In the counting divisors method, list the divisors of the given number and check if the number, to be considered prime, satisfies the two criteria.
The counting divisors method for 37 would simply be
Divisors of 37=1,37.
Number of divisors=2
The number 37, hence, can be considered prime.
In the divisibility method, the prime number only has 2 divisors, which are 1 and itself. There is no specific divisibility check for the number 37 other than checking if it is divisible by 1 and 37.
List the prime numbers chart up to 40.
The prime numbers 1 to 40 are 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 31, 37, 41. By keeping a note of the chart like above, we can easily determine if a number is prime or not.
Prime factorization is only applicable to non-prime numbers/composite numbers. Since 37 has no other factor than 1 and 37, it cannot be factored into smaller numbers.
