What is the Divisibility Rule of 697?

The divisibility rule for 697 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 697 or not without using the division method. Check whether 1394 is divisible by 697 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Divide the given number into two parts, here in 1394, the number can be split as 13 and 94.

Step 2: Multiply the first part (13) by 697 and the second part (94) by 1. 13 × 697 + 94 × 1 = 1394.

Step 3: If the sum from Step 2 equals the original number (1394), then the number is divisible by 697. If the result from step 2 isn't equal to the original number, then the number isn't divisible by 697.divisibility rule of 697

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 697

Learning the divisibility rule will help kids to master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 697.

  • Know the multiples of 697: Memorize the multiples of 697 (697, 1394, 2091, 2788, etc.) to quickly check the divisibility. If the result from the calculation equals the original number, then the number is divisible by 697.

  • Use the subtraction method: If the result we get after the calculation is negative, consider it as positive for checking the divisibility of a number.

  • Repeat the process for large numbers: Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a conclusion. For example, check if 4182 is divisible by 697 using the divisibility test.

Divide 4182 into two parts: 4 and 182.

    Multiply 4 by 697 and 182 by 1. 4 × 697 + 182 × 1 = 4182.

Since the result equals the original number, 4182 is divisible by 697.

  • Use the division method to verify: Students can use the division method as a way to verify and cross-check their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.
