What is the Divisibility Rule of 206?

The divisibility rule for 206 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 206 or not without using the division method. Check whether 618 is divisible by 206 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Divide the number into groups of three digits from the right. In 618, since it has only three digits, it remains as 618.

Step 2: Check if the number 618 itself or each group (if more than three digits) is divisible by 206. In this case, 618 ÷ 206 = 3, which is an integer.

Step 3: Since 3 is an integer, 618 is divisible by 206. If the result from step 2 isn't an integer, then the number isn't divisible by 206.

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 206

Learning the divisibility rule will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 206.

  • Know the multiples of 206: Memorize the multiples of 206 (206, 412, 618, 824, 1030…etc.) to quickly check the divisibility. If the result from the division is an integer, then the number is divisible by 206.

  • Use the division method: Students can use the division method directly to verify and crosscheck their results. This will help them verify and also learn.

  • Repeat the process for larger numbers: For numbers with more than three digits, divide them into groups of three digits from the right and check each group for divisibility by 206.
