What is the Divisibility Rule of 549?

The divisibility rule for 549 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 549 or not without using the division method. Check whether 1098 is divisible by 549 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Check if the number is divisible by 3. The sum of the digits of 1098 is 1+0+9+8=18, which is divisible by 3.

Step 2: Check if the number is divisible by 9. Again, since the sum of the digits is 18, it is also divisible by 9.

Step 3: Check if the number is divisible by 61. To do this, subtract 61 from 1098 until you either reach 0 or a number less than 61. 1098 - 61 = 1037; 1037 - 61 = 976; continue until you reach 0.

Step 4: Since 1098 is divisible by 3, 9, and 61, it is also divisible by 549.divisibility rule of 549

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 549

Learning the divisibility rule will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 549.

  • Know the multiples of 549: Memorize the multiples of 549 (549, 1098, 1647, 2196…etc.) to quickly check divisibility. If the result from the subtraction is a multiple of 549, then the number is divisible by 549.

  • Use the subtraction method for large numbers: Students should keep subtracting 549 from the number until they reach zero or a number less than 549 to confirm divisibility.

  • Use the division method to verify: Students can use the division method as a way to verify and cross-check their results. This will help them verify and also learn.
