What is the Divisibility Rule of 401?

The divisibility rule for 401 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 401 or not without using the division method. Check whether 1604 is divisible by 401 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Take the last three digits of the number, here in 1604, the last three digits are 604.

Step 2: Subtract 401 from the last three digits until you either reach zero or a negative number. 604 - 401 = 203.

Step 3: If the result is zero, the number is divisible by 401. If it’s not zero, check if 203 is divisible by 401. Since 203 is less than 401, 1604 is not divisible by 401.

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 401

Learning the divisibility rule will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 401.

-Know the multiples of 401: Memorize the multiples of 401 (401, 802, 1203, etc.) to quickly check the divisibility. If the subtraction results in one of these multiples, the number is divisible by 401.

- Use the division method for verification: If unsure, use the division method to cross-check your results. Doing so will help verify your calculations and reinforce learning.

- Repeat the subtraction for larger numbers: For larger numbers, continue subtracting 401 from the last three digits until you reach a manageable number.

- Be careful with the subtraction: Ensure you perform the subtraction correctly to avoid mistakes.

- Practice regularly: Regular practice helps in memorizing the process and avoids confusion during calculations.
