The divisibility rule is a way to determine whether a number is divisible by another number without using the division method. In real life, we can use the divisibility rule for quick math, dividing things evenly, and sorting things. In this topic, we will learn about the divisibility rule of 228.

What is the Divisibility Rule of 228?

The divisibility rule for 228 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 228 or not without using the division method. Check whether 684 is divisible by 228 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Check if the number is divisible by 2. All numbers ending in an even digit are divisible by 2. Here, 684 ends in 4, which is even.

Step 2: Check if the number is divisible by 3. Add the digits of the number: 6 + 8 + 4 = 18. Since 18 is divisible by 3, 684 is divisible by 3.

Step 3: Check if the number is divisible by 19. Use the rule where you multiply the last digit by 2, and then subtract it from the rest of the number. Here, the last digit is 4, so 4 × 2 = 8. Subtracting that from 68 (the remaining digits), we get 68 - 8 = 60. Since 60 is not divisible by 19, 684 is not divisible by 19.

Since 684 is not divisible by 19, it is not divisible by 228.
