The numbers that have only two factors, which are 1 and itself, are called prime numbers. Prime numbers are used in various fields such as encryption, computer algorithms, and barcode generation. In this topic, we will be discussing whether 384 is a prime number or not.

Divisibility by 7: The last digit in 384 is 4. To check divisibility by 7, double the last digit (4 × 2 = 8). Then, subtract it from the rest of the number (38 - 8 = 30). Since 30 is not divisible by 7, 384 is also not divisible by 7.
Divisibility by 11: In 384, the sum of the digits in odd positions is 7, and the sum of the digits in even positions is 8. The difference is 1, which means that 384 is not divisible by 11. Since 384 is divisible by several numbers, it has more than two factors.

Step 5: Repeat this process until you reach the table consisting of marked and crossed boxes, except 1. Through this process, we will have a list of prime numbers from 1 to 100. The list is 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, and 97. 384 is not present in the list of prime numbers, so it is a composite number.
Prime factorization is a process of breaking down a number into prime factors. Then multiply those factors to obtain the original number.
Step 1: We can write 384 as 2 × 192.
Step 2: In 2 × 192, 192 is a composite number. Further, break down 192 into 2 × 96.
Step 3: Continue breaking down 96 into 2 × 48, then 48 into 2 × 24, then 24 into 2 × 12, then 12 into 2 × 6, and finally 6 into 2 × 3.
Step 4: Now we get the product consisting of only prime numbers. Hence, the prime factorization of 384 is 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 (or 2^6 × 3).
