Minecraft is a fun game. Isn’t it? If your answer is yes! This tutorial is definitely going to help you. In Minecraft, there are some basic skills that you need to learn. So, here is a one-step get-started guide for building a dispenser.

Minecraft is a surprising world! It makes sense when we see manual crafting of different stuff. The combat and defense practices in Minecraft eventually bring into light a “dispenser”.  A dispenser is apparently a solid block in Minecraft which acts as a container. It is used independently or with Redstone machinery for defense purposes. Basically, it dispenses the items stored inside when triggered.

Properties:

Blast Resistance3.5
LuminantNo
FlammableNo
Catches fire from lavaNo
Stackableyes
TransparentNo

Knowing the purpose, it can trigger arrows, splash, potions, or even lava buckets to provide additional support.

Crafting:

In grindstone Minecraft game, the crafting table for creating simple things looks like 3*3 table:

Smithing Table in Minecraft

Building a dispenser with the help of a crafting table is not a big deal and you just need to add the items inside it along with the cobblestone.

For creating  a dispenser you need:

  • 7 Cobblestone
  • 1 Redstone dust
  • 1 Bow

The three cobblestones are placed in the first row. Then the middle one is a bow and at the bottom is Redstone in the middle. Then put the remaining cobblestones on the side slots of the bow and the Redstone. And see, it’s done!!!

Yeah!!! Two dispensers as goodies!!

Here, comes the surprise one can find two dispensers in the jungle pyramid. But make sure the jungle way is full of traps. So,

You better opt for crafting the dispenser.

Since the dispenser initially is empty so fill it with stackable items from inventory. The items are the items that will be shot when the dispenser is activated. The 9 slots in dispenser inventory and by pressing the USER CONTROL you can get hold of inventory. To move the items between dispenser inventory and the hotbar, you simply need to drag the items or press shift+click. When done, press Esc to exit from GUI.

Redstone component:

Getting Redstone itself is very special as it is found deep under the ground. Also, found inside caves. A pickaxe or greater material is used for digging Redstone.

  • Redstone is activated by a Redstone torch.
  • An adjacent power component can be used to turn it on.
  • Redstone repeater and strongly powered opaque block further used for activation.

Redstone when activated, a dispenser waits for 2 Redstone ticks with 0.2 seconds lag and then ejects one item. The dispenser can not ejects items continuously and it only ejects repeatedly when you activate with clock circuit.

  • Effect:

Powered Redstone dust turns on the mechanism component which it is configured at. It is turned on by a power source as its input.

In the next step, you can see that the item will be moved at the top first box of the block. By pressing “E” from the keyboard.

So, we really need to collect the items that are to be shot, for example, wood items, strings, stones, bows or any other items.

Finally, the dispenser is ready to dispense the items.  If multiple items are stored in slots, then a random item is selected for ejection. The items are thrown in the direction items are facing.

Dispenser behavior:

There is a lengthy number of things and particular interactions that a dispenser may be used for. The following things will happen when you put something in a dispenser.

  • If a player, an armor stand, or any other possible hostile mob is on the block directly in front of the dispenser, armor or Elytra will equip onto that object and fill the vacant armor slot.
  • Armor Stand (Java edition only) will be placed as an entity in the direction that the dispenser is facing.
  • Arrows will shoot in the dispenser’s direction of travel.
  • If facing water or a block above water, the boat will descend as a rideable object.
  • If it is bone meal-able, a block in front of it will be fertilized.
  • Splash Potions, Eggs, and Snowballs will be fired in the direction the dispenser is facing.
  • Empty Buckets will pick up any water or lava block that sits in front of the dispenser.
  • Fire Charge will launch as a blazing missile that has the power to ignite nearby enemies, players, or blocks.
  • In the direction the dispenser is pointing, Firework Rockets will launch.
  • Flint and Steel will light the block in front of it on fire if possible. Each time the dispenser uses the flint and steel it will lower the durability of the flint and steel.
  • The source block from a bucket of water, lava, or fish will fall into the block that the dispenser is facing. If there were fish in the bucket, they would be present in the water supply block as well.
  • If the dispenser is facing Minecraft rails, minecarts will be put as minecarts paintings; otherwise, the item will be dropped.
  • Mob Heads will be positioned to complete spawnable enemies, such as calling the wither or iron golems, or else the head will fall.
  • In front of the dispenser, Shulker Boxes will be positioned.
  • The mob will spawn using Spawn Eggs in the direction the dispenser is pointing.
  • TNT will be detonated and propelled in an arbitrary direction at a low speed.
  • Glass bottles will become filled if the dispenser is facing a water source block.
  • Horse Armor (Java edition only) will be equipped on any horse in front of the dispenser.
  • Any pig, domestic horse, mule, donkey, or strider in front of the dispenser will be saddled (Java edition only).
  • Chest (Java edition only) will be placed on any llama or tamed horse, mule, or donkey in front of the dispenser.
  • Glowstone will refill any respawn anchor in front of it, if the respawn anchor is full the dispenser does nothing.
  • Any other item will be dropped from the dispenser when the dispenser is powered.

Conclusion:

In Minecraft, you can find many blocks, one of them is a dispenser. And these are very essential blocks in defense tactics.
