How to install BSL Shaders in Minecraft

To install the BSL shader in Minecraft there are a few things to get prepared before we can start installing the BSL shader.

The first step is to update the version and the Minecraft launcher to ensure that there will be no problems when we install Optifine and then the shader. It is advisable to run Minecraft at least once before the installation to be on the safer side. Moreover, engaging in fun activities for kids, such as customizing Minecraft with shaders, can turn the installation process into an enjoyable and educational experience for young players.

BSL Shaders mod is available in the present version and the previous version. To use a mod, we have a mod manager called Forge, but for shaders and texture packs, we want to use a tool called Optifine.

Optifine can be used with the tool or without the tool Forge. Optifine introduces some fixes to Minecraft, like increasing its frame rate and it is also essential to allow shaders to work. To install Shaders, first, we have to install “OptiFine”.

The second step is to download and install Optifine because the shaders are custom mods that are not from Mojang, so players need an application called Optifine to convert the vanilla version into a modded version. Even the players can get more graphical and performance settings. For those interested in exploring a variety of visual enhancements and gameplay experiences, there are numerous online games for kids that incorporate engaging graphics and interactive elements.

Visit the Optifine website now to obtain the most recent version of this mod, which is compatible with our most recent version of Minecraft. Make sure the downloaded file should be in a ‘.jar’ format.

Note: BSL Shaders are now available for Optifine and Iris and the Older versions of the shader pack are only compatible with Optifine.

After installing Optifine HD Mod on our device. Now go to the location, where our application files are stored on our PC. Search for the shader pack folder in Minecraft, most of the time it will not find it, try to create one in the same location. Take note of the below paths as per your device.

  • Windows => %appdata%\.minecraft
  • Mac OS X => ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
  • Linux => ~/.minecraft

The third step is downloading and installing BSL shaders. Go to the official website and download the BSL shaders. Make sure it is downloading in a .zip file.

Go to the Options section of our Optifine version of Minecraft game, then click Video settings > Shaders and set ‘old lightning’ as default > select the ‘shaders folder,’ which will open a file explorer window where shader packs are stored. This folder will be empty so paste the downloaded BSL shaders .zip file here. Remember that the zip folder should not be extracted and should be pasted into the ‘shaderpacks’ folder but sometimes you can even try to copy the extracted files from the BSL Shaders zip file and paste them into it.
