There are two different ways of naming numbers. They are the Indian Numbering System and the International Numbering System. In the Indian Numbering System, digits are assigned place values starting from the right. These place values include ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands, and continue to grow as the number increases.

For example, in the number 186, the digit 6 is in the ones place, 8 is in the tens place, and 1 is in the hundreds place. Starting from the right, the order goes from ones to tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, lakhs, ten lakhs, and crores. Each digit will have its value based on its position in the number. 

Let’s take an example of the number 9,56,28,743

The number gets written as Nine Crore Fifty-Six Lakhs Twenty-Eight Thousand Seven Hundred Forty-Three.

The number gets placed as:

• 9 in the crores place
• 5 in the ten lakhs place
• 6 in the lakhs place
• 2 in the ten thousands place
• 8 in the thousands place
• 7 in the hundreds place
• 4 in the tens place
• 3 in the ones place
   

Just like the Indian Numbering System, the International Numbering system also uses names, and they differ for bigger numbers. The place value starts from the right. The place values are one, tens, hundreds, thousands, hundred thousands, millions, ten millions, hundred millions, and so on.

Let’s take the example of 743856269,

The number is written as Seven Hundred Forty-Three Million Eight Hundred Fifty-Six Thousand Two Hundred Sixty-Nine

The number gets placed as:

• 7 in the Hundred Million place
• 4 in the Ten Million place
• 3 in the Million place
• 8 in the Hundred Thousands place
• 5 in the Ten Thousands place
• 6 in the Thousands place
• 2 in the Hundreds place
• 6 in the Tens place
• 9 in the Ones place

While writing numbers from 100 to 200, there are certain rules to be followed. Below discussed are some rules to keep in mind while writing the names of numbers.

Rule 1: Always start naming with ‘Hundred’ for any number from 100 to 199. For example, 150 is written as One Hundred Fifty.  

Rule 2: For numbers starting with 200, use “Two Hundred.” For example, 201 is written as “Two Hundred One.”

Rule 3: Numbers after 100 follow a pattern. For example, 145 is written as One Hundred Forty-Five, 168 is written as One Hundred Sixty-Eight, and 172 is written as One Hundred Seventy-Two.
 

• Always use a hyphen while writing numbers like 145, and 178. It should be written as One Hundred Forty-Five and One Hundred Seventy-Eight

• Always keep writing the numbers with ‘Hundred’, as in One Hundred for 100 and Two Hundred for 200

• Always focus on the tens place for numbers like 110, 120, 130, etc. After writing One Hundred, you just need to add the number, that's it. The mentioned numbers can be written as One Hundred Ten, One Hundred Twenty, and One Hundred Thirty.
   

• Place Value: The value of a digit based on its position within a given number. For example, in 123, we place 3 in the ones place, 2 in the tens place, and 1 in the hundreds place.

• Number Form: It is the numerical form of a number written in words. For example, the number form of One Hundred Thirty-Four is 134.

• International Numbering System: The Western system used to write numbers, where the place values for larger numbers are different. For example, instead of writing lakhs and crores, we use million, ten million, hundred million, and so on.
