What is the Divisibility Rule of 764?

The divisibility rule for 764 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 764 or not without using the division method. Check whether 2292 is divisible by 764 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Divide the number into groups of three digits from the right. Here, 2292 becomes 2 and 292.

Step 2: Multiply the first group (from the right) by 2. Here, 292 × 2 = 584.

Step 3: Subtract this result from the remaining group(s). Here, 2 - 584 = -582.

Step 4: If the result is a multiple of 764 or zero, then the original number is divisible by 764. Since -582 is not a multiple of 764, 2292 is not divisible by 764.divisibility rule of 764

Tips and Tricks for Divisibility Rule of 764

Learning divisibility rules will help kids master division. Let’s learn a few tips and tricks for the divisibility rule of 764.

  • Know the multiples of 764: Memorize the multiples of 764 (764, 1528, 2292, etc.) to quickly check the divisibility. If the result from the subtraction is a multiple of 764, then the number is divisible by 764.

  • Use absolute values: If the result after subtraction is negative, consider its absolute value to check the divisibility.

  • Repeat the process for large numbers: Students should keep repeating the divisibility process until they reach a small number that is divisible by 764.

  • Use the division method to verify: Students can use the division method as a way to verify and cross-check their results. This will help them to verify and also learn.
