When someone asks you what a prime number is, answer to them that a prime number is a natural number greater than 1 that has exactly two distinct positive divisors: 1 and itself, thus, it cannot be divided by other whole numbers. As the topic of this article, let us expand more material on the topic of prime numbers.
We cannot consider the number 112 as a prime number, because it has more than 2 divisors. Only a number with 2 divisors of 1 and itself is considered a prime number.
A number is either prime or not a prime only if certain conditions are fulfilled. To find if a number is prime or not there are methods to perform and when those conditions hold good only then the numbers are labeled as prime or composite numbers.
The methods to check any numbers are as follows:
Counting Divisor method is a certain type of method where we first count all the positive divisors of the number. If the number of divisors is 2 then it is a prime number. With 112 we can see that it has more than 2 divisors, hence it's a composite number.
In the division test, we look at the opportunity to divide the number by any of the prime numbers.
And if we cannot then it is considered as a prime here 112 can be divided by 3 which is a prime number therefore because of this 112 cannot be a prime number.
It is a list of prime numbers up to a certain number, which can be used for the identification of prime numbers. If the number does not exist in the prime number chart, then it is not a prime number,
here are all the prime numbers from 1 to 120. 2, 3, 5, 7…. 103, 107, 109, 113. As we can see that 112 is not present in the chart, hence it is not a prime number.
Prime factorization is the technique of writing a composite number in terms of the product of prime numbers, in which each factor is a prime number. Hence, 112 is a composite number, as it can be represented as a product of two prime number 7 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2= 112.
