The divisibility rule is a way to find out whether a number is divisible by another number without using the division method. In real life, we can use the divisibility rule for quick math, dividing things evenly, and sorting things. In this topic, we will learn about the divisibility rule of 901.

What is the Divisibility Rule of 901?

The divisibility rule for 901 is a method by which we can find out if a number is divisible by 901 or not without using the division method. Check whether 1802 is divisible by 901 with the divisibility rule.

Step 1: Divide the number into two parts: the first part containing all but the last three digits, and the second part containing just the last three digits. For 1802, divide it into 1 (first part) and 802 (second part).

Step 2: Multiply the first part by 1001. 1 × 1001 = 1001.

Step 3: Add the result from Step 2 to the second part. 1001 + 802 = 1803.

Step 4: Check if 1803 is a multiple of 901. Since it's not, 1802 is not divisible by 901.
